Pieta, as a subject, relays the message of a sorrowful yet pride mother who has lost her son for the sake of humanity and other benevolent causes. The subject mainly became known after the sculpture Pieta by Michelangelo. His Pieta presented Mother Mary carrying lean, weak and dead Jesus in her lap and mourning over his death. Flag is a painting made by the American soldier at the age of 24 when he got discharged from the American army around 1953. During the time he saw a dream of American flag and was inspired to make the painting out of it. To depict it, he used oil, encausitc and collage of old American newspapers. He chose the cuttings of newspaper deliberately with political or national headlines. Those prints are still visible in the final painting. Washington crossing the Delaware is one of the historical moments in the America history which the German History painter Emanuel Gottlieb has depicted on the canvas by representing Washington and his comrades in a heroic manner. The crossing took place on December 25-26, 1776, to take down the Hessain forces in Trenton , New Jersey.
