Genre scenes like this generally doesn’t consist any striking elements which can capture one’s eyes immediately. Like in the fantasy or dramatic scenes contains some elements which can spectacularly impress the viewer’s mind. Such as Massacre of the Innocents by Peter Paul Rubens in which the cruel scene grips our mind and forces to find out more about the scene represented. Genre paintings tend to be more sober and without frills of high-imaginations. Here, the western genre painting accomplished by Swedish artist Kilian Zoll, also gives a cool effect and explores the contemporary village’s customs. The river happily roaring aside the village has totally stopped by the winter’s cold. Thus, villagers now have a new ground open to delve upon. All kind of activities are […]

Oil on canvas is a frequently used medium for dramatic sceneries, but subtle ones like these usually come in pastel, watercolor and other softer mediums. However, Edmond Yon was a master at bringing out multiple kinds of effects in oil on canvas. The serene waterbed is one of the most striking sceneries, leaving you stalled for a little fantasy. Serene places like these definitely hold a palpable degree of therapeutic value, while it can be fascinating to experience them right there. Paysage De Riviere is a piece of art with enough telling that even someone completely unguarded can enjoy the place all by herself. While I remained a witness to the beauty of this painting for minutes, it precipitously slid into my list of favorites. […]

This painting is a part of the series Cypresses by Van Gogh produced in 1889-1890. The represented one is the most popular as it got famed in 1993 after its sell to Walter H. Annenberg for an equivalent amount of $ 86.3 million. It is considered as the artist one of the masterpieces. Though, if one takes a closer look at the painting, he learns that the depiction is more related to his fantasy than the reality as if he just watched the real scene and then depicted it in his own style of broken brush and post-impressionist vivid colors. This portrayal from his last days has filled with vibrant and close to original colors as he accepted the post-impressionism. Van Gogh’s prominent works has […]

Pinkie is simple, formal portraiture from 1794 of a little 12 years old girl named Sarah Barrett Moulton. It represents her full length portrait in the background of an open landscape. She stands gracefully gazing direct into the viewers’ eyes. Apart from its beautiful depiction, Pinkie is also known for its association with another painting The Blue Boy by Thomas Gainsborough. Pinkie Analysis It is a full length portrait representing the girl in a casual stance. The background is an open landscape. The name pinkie is given derived from her pink dress. Painter has put her in the scene in a way which makes her posture grand. The placement of the horizon at very low level and the big sky covering the girl’s body is […]

Edmond Yon has become a well-known artist among nature-loving patrons. Almost 9 out 10 times, Yon’s paintings evoke a sense of appreciation which you never knew you had in you. Similar to many of his paintings, Au bord de la mer is a depiction of relaxation at its zenith. While the sea is evidently wide and open, Yon has been able to draw our attention to it with a series of immaculate strokes in blue in only a thin section across the canvas. Moreover, the subjects, who are most probably a family, are seen to be relaxing with the children in a rather prudent way. The beauty of the surrounding environment seems to compensate adequately for food, games and rides, which are usually on the […]

Isarlandschaft is a work that spells out the incomparable stature of rustic beauty and scenery painting. The work by Albert Zimmerman depicts very little as to any incident, but the presence of this environment in its heyday is an occasion in itself. The region’s exact location is unclear to me, but it should be somewhere in Germany, whose natural beauty is often an untold mystery. The region is even more captivating for the forests that rustle with heterogeneous colors amid vast grassland plains, history-sheathing mountains and a sky beyond which God loves playing with subtle colors. Life in and around Isarlandscaft is probably the most enriching experience possible for the sensitive soul. Although it does not have too many people to balm your loneliness all the time, it probably gives you a […]
