The undeclared identity of the woman makes us wonder about her personality. Though, at least we can understand by the furry and flowered shawl, the golden necklace and royal attitude hints that she was not from any lower class. By doing less labor at the smeary backdrop, artist glorifies the main subject with excessive details and fine brush-strokes of various colors to add realism. Cameras were not invented until the early 19th century to capture a person realistically, but adept artists like Salomon Guillaume Counis recompensed the gap by their skills.
