This oil-on-panel painting shows some animals drinking from a stream and eating grass from the land. The herdsman could be seen in the far background under the shadows of the trees. The massive trees are a prominent part of the portrait showing the scene is from a grove.
In the scene, we can see all the elements of Mother Nature as they were, before mankind ‘progressed’ and cut off those beautiful trees. These kind of natural scenarios have a certain charm in it which we can’t find in the modern views of high-rise buildings. The calmness and peace is unmatched at every aspect from the cluttered cities. And about stress, even looking at the picture relaxes your mental nerves. So you can imagine the big effect, when you would have the great opportunity to visit a place like this.
Unfortunately, nowadays, people have forgotten the real joy of rural area, where air is still pure and water is still drinkable directly from the rivers. And the beautiful trees are just making the scene more alive. Looking at the yellowish background, we can imagine it is a time of early morning or twilight.
The cows and goats roaming by self-will, the stream of pure water and big dense trees, I would surely like to visit a place like this once in a while.
