Moreover, Andreas Zorn is a specialist in royal paintings, making his talent evident quite easily in this masterpiece. One has to believe that the perfection quotient in this painting is quite high, and the expressions, facial features and photographic posturing of the subjects are some of the most appreciable features in this work. Here is represented the second version made in 1638, which resembles some similarities to the original while brutalizes some aspects even more than the first one. The subject matter and the scene is elaborately described in the first version’s iconography. The second version is painted after 25 years of the first one and it hasn’t lost its impact. However, the two world wars in de Zeubiaurre’s lifetime are telling enough about what moods his paintings would evoke. Although it is not sorrow that flows out of it, you can see a depiction of negative social changes in all his works – even if he did not paint a perfectly-normal-looking-mother-daughter portrait, in which the mother’s cigarette and plunging neckline would evoke questions.
